10th Year Running for Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge
This summer marked the 10th year running for the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge which has now raised almost £3m for charity. With more than 100 teams and 400 competitors participating this year, it was another huge success.
The event comprised of a 16 mile walk/run and 39 mile cycle, which was set up to allow participants to take part in a fun and challenging event while raising much needed funds for three nominated charities. This year's charity partners were Mercy Ships, Barnardo's Scotland and Over the Wall.
Also participating in the competition was record-breaking world cyclist and ultra-endurance adventurer, Mark Beaumont – fresh from his latest venture, Africa Solo, where he set a new Guinness World Record of 41 days, 10 hours and 22 minutes for cycling 6718 miles (10,812km) the length of Africa.
"This is my 5th Rob Roy! I love coming back each year and seeing so many people of all athletic abilities taking on the stunning, but pretty challenging route. I can't compare it to any other event in terms of camaraderie and high spirits. It really is a celebration of charity fundraising, with friends, in the great outdoors. And this, being the 10th anniversary is very special, and I am hoping the event will break the £3 million barrier for funds raised for so many amazing charities over the years," said Mark.

Having completed 10 years, Martin Currie has big changes planned for next year which include a bigger programme with more options including four new challenges for different ability levels ranging from 16 miles to 72 miles.
