WELL AP Community Surpasses 5,000 Mark
Rapid expansion of registered and accredited WELL Professional community adds to the market significant expertise in building practices that address human health and wellness
The International WELL Building InstituteTM (IWBITM) announced a milestone achievement in the growth of its WELL APTM program as it surpassed 5,000 registrants. The WELL AP credential denotes expertise in the WELL Building StandardTM (WELLTM) and a commitment to advancing human health and wellness in buildings and communities.
Architects, designers, business leaders and wellness advocates across the globe have been convening and mobilizing through the WELL AP program. In its expansion, the WELL AP community has transformed into a support network for project teams and industry professionals creating localized and issue-specific forums and communication channels. The WELL AP community has spurred healthy building design innovations and has played an instrumental role in the evolution of WELL.
“What interests us in the WELL Building Standard is the potential for conspicuous, qualitative benefits to our residents and end users,” says Andrew Browning, Development Associate at Forum Real Estate Group and the 5,000th person to pursue the WELL AP. “I’ve begun the journey towards becoming a WELL AP to optimize those benefits and differentiate our development projects moving forward in a way that is meaningful.”
Employees, clients and the broader community recognize the WELL AP credential as an indication that their health is a priority. The success of the WELL AP program is a result of the accredited individuals in 71 countries who are initiating conversations and effectively creating spaces that help people thrive.
“The WELL AP community is on the frontlines of the ‘second wave’ of sustainability, one that puts people at the center of decisions about building design, construction and operations,” says IWBI Chairman and CEO Rick Fedrizzi. “Empowered with the tools and resources IWBI has created to advance this movement, we’re excited to see the impact of each and every WELL AP as we build a healthier and more sustainable future, together.”
The WELL AP exam was developed by a diverse network of subject matter experts dedicated to advancing health and well-being in buildings and communities across the world. Encompassing human health impacts, healthy building strategies and the business case for WELL, the WELL AP program helps prepare, differentiate and continuously educate the community to advance healthy building.
