Taproot Foundation Unites Skilled Volunteers, Private and Nonprofit Sectors for Pro Bono Week 2020
Rebuilding Communities Together, sponsored by American Express, celebrates skilled volunteering as a tool to solve society’s most pressing challenges October 25 – October 31, 2020.
NEW YORK, October 5, 2020 / 3BL Media / – Taproot Foundation, a national nonprofit that connects organizations with volunteers sharing their professional expertise pro bono, will host a week of virtual events in late October celebrating Pro Bono Week 2020 in partnership with sponsor American Express.
An annual global campaign, Pro Bono Week recognizes pro bono service across all professions that use their talents to make a difference and activates social change organizations to harness that talent to move their missions forward. Inspired by the American Bar Association’s National Celebration of Pro Bono, Taproot Foundation works with partners around the globe to focus attention on the pro bono movement each year in October. Since its founding in 2001, Taproot has worked to inspire pro bono service in professions beyond law. Its cohort of skilled volunteers have served over 7,500 social change organizations providing more than 1.7 million hours of work worth over $204 million in value.
From October 25 through October 31, Taproot will connect volunteers and nonprofits, spotlight stories of impact, and host webinars that carve a new path forward for communities rebuilding from the ongoing pandemic. Rebuilding Communities Together will explore the role of pro bono service in recovery during a global economic crisis. During Pro Bono Week 2020 (#PBW20), Taproot Foundation, along with leaders around the world, will shine a light on the vital role that pro bono service can play during this critical time.
“The communities where we live and work are hurting,” said Lindsay Firestone Gruber, Taproot Foundation’s President and CEO. “And we know that in order for our communities to remain strong in times of crises, our nonprofit and small business sectors must be resilient. Now is the time for us to come together, bring our collective strengths across sectors to the table, and be the fuel that helps drive recovery.”
