Susan S. Lawrence Named a Woman of Excellence by the National Association for Female Executives
November 2, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Booz Allen senior vice president Susan S. Lawrence will receive the prestigious Digital Trailblazer award at the 18th Annual Women of Excellence Awards, to be held December 9 in New York, New York. The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) hosts the yearly awards breakfast to honor “the achievements of outstanding women who are committed to ensuring the success of women and girls in their workplaces, communities, and/or around the globe.”
Susan Lawrence will be recognized for “demonstrating career success in electronic technology and as well as her distinguished vision and devotion that ultimately catalyzed breakthroughs.”
Specifically, NAFE will recognize Lawrence for “her exceptional support of veterans' and women's agendas, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach to students and young professionals.” Before joining Booz Allen, Lawrence was a senior military officer in the U.S. Army who became the first female chief information officer, and the fourth woman lieutenant general in the branch's history.
Lawrence’s accomplishment builds upon a strong and growing number of Booz Allen women recognized for their expertise and contributions. Previous Booz Allen recipients of the NAFE Women of Excellence Award include Betty Thompson, who earned the Activist Award in 2015 for her activism in conceiving the firm's Women's Agenda and designing a firmwide strategy to build a culture where women succeed, and Susan Penfield, who earned the Digital Trailblazer Award in 2014 for her groundbreaking work in the use of information technology in the health industry.
