PINDO SA Earns PEFC Chain of Custody Certification, Assessed by SCS Global Services
First company in Latin America to provide PEFC COC Certified Renewable Energy to the National Interconnected System

SCS Global Services (SCS), a global third-party certification body, announced today that PINDÓ SA, a family-owned agro-forestry industrial company located in Misiones, Argentina, has obtained PEFC Chain of Custody Certification (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) for its sawmill and its energy plant, which generates electric power from forest biomass. This internationally recognized certification confirms that PINDÓ SA has developed robust procedures to assure that its sawmill products and energy plant biomass originate from PEFC certified forests. Moreover, PINDÓ SA is the first Latin American company to obtain PEFC CoC Forest Biomass certification, enabling it to provide power to the Argentine Interconnection System (Sistema Argentino de Interconexión,).
"PINDÓ SA's sustainability policies and procedures set an example for the region's forestry industry, and help to ensure the preservation and appreciation of natural resources," said Maggie Schwartz, Director, Forest Products Chain of Custody of SCS Global Services. Chain-of-custody certification tracks PEFC-certified wood throughout the value chain, ensuring that it remains separate and distinct from non-certified wood at all stages of harvesting, transport and processing, she explained.
During the audit, SCS evaluated the sawmill, the energy plant that generates power from forest biomass, and the company’s due diligence system for the control of wood from Argentina and the sale of PEFC Controlled Sources. The resultant PEFC certificate covers PINDÓ SA’s production and sale of rolls, chips, products of sawn wood, biomass and energy, as well as the due diligence system, supporting percentage-based PEFC certified product claims.

Primera empresa de América Latina en suministrar energía renovable con certificación PEFC al Sistema Interconectado Nacional

SCS Global Services (SCS), un organismo global de certificación de tercera parte, anunció hoy que PINDO SA, empresa familiar agro-foresto industrial instalada en Misiones argentina, ha obtenido la Certificación de PEFC -Cadena de Custodia (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) para su aserradero y su planta energética, que genera energía eléctrica a partir de biomasa forestal. Esta certificación, reconocida internacionalmente, confirma que PINDÓ SA ha desarrollado procedimientos robustos para asegurar que los productos de su aserradero y la biomasa forestal de su planta energética provienen de bosques certificados PEFC. Además, PINDÓ SA es la primera empresa latinoamericana en obtener la certificación PEFC CoC de Biomasa Forestal, lo que le permite suministrar el excedente de su energía al Sistema Argentino de Interconexión.
"Las políticas y procedimientos de sostenibilidad de PINDÓ SA son un ejemplo para la industria forestal de la región y ayudan a asegurar la preservación y valorización de los recursos naturales", dijo Maggie Schwartz, directora de la Cadena de Custodia de Productos Forestales de SCS Global Services. Ella explico que la certificación de la cadena de custodia rastrea la madera certificada PEFC a lo largo de la cadena de valor, asegurando que permanezca separada y se distinga de la madera no certificada en todas las etapas de cosecha, transporte y procesamiento.
Durante la auditoría, SCS evaluó el aserradero, la planta energética que genera energía a partir de biomasa forestal, y el sistema de diligencia debida de la empresa para el control de la madera de Argentina y la venta de Fuentes Controladas PEFC. El certificado PEFC de PINDÓ SA cubre la producción y venta de rollos, astillas, productos de madera aserrada, biomasa y energía, así como el sistema de diligencia debida, que respalda las declaraciones de productos certificados PEFC basados en porcentajes.
