Meet Kristy Lilas, GoDaddy's Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging
This Sunday, Aug. 21 GoDaddy recognizes World Entrepreneur’s Day. GoDaddy understands the importance entrepreneurs play in the economic growth of any country by bringing new ideas and innovation to the market. To support entrepreneurs around the world, GoDaddy continually strives for its people and culture to consider and reflect the global community of the entrepreneurs it serves. With that in mind, GoDaddy is pleased to announce the recent addition of Kristy Lilas to lead its diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) efforts.
GoDaddy continues to be a strong advocate for supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and believes that diverse teams build better products and better communities — period. As a result of the company’s efforts, GoDaddy achieved pay parity across the organization beginning in 2015 and continues to earn 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
Kristy is responsible for implementing holistic, integrated and equitable programs that build on these efforts and allow GoDaddy employees and customers to feel empowered and supported—furthering the business’ mission of making opportunity more inclusive for all. Kristy combines an educational and personal background in social justice topics with corporate experience in strategy and operations to implement meaningful change.
Driven to make a positive impact on communities, Kristy was originally drawn to working at GoDaddy because of the company’s ability and commitment to creating inclusive and equitable opportunities for small business owners and entrepreneurs. In addition, Kristy is passionate about GoDaddy’s global community and philanthropic program, Empower by GoDaddy, that provides entrepreneurs in underserved communities with access to much needed resources for building successful and sustainable businesses.
Kristy said, “Empower can truly strengthen our society by enabling people who have historically been marginalized to succeed and prosper—which will not only impact their lives but will also help diversify the influences that drive our economy and world, impacting us all.”
A passion for learning and never-ending curiosity gives Kristy broad and deep knowledge of key concepts across both social justice and business. Kristy recognizes that advancing DEIB requires a two-prong approach: influencing individuals and refining processes and systems. “One without the other cannot work, which is why this approach remains at the core of GoDaddy’s DEIB strategy and programming,” said Kristy.
Kristy’s focus this year will be strengthening GoDaddy’s DEIB foundations, increasing engagement and broadening education as “this will allow us to continue to scale, deepen and expand our efforts going forward, and increasingly enable customers’ success through equitable experiences and opportunities.” GoDaddy’s Employee Resource Groups, including an Entrepreneurs in Tech group, will continue to play a key role in its DEIB program.
This World Entrepreneur’s Day, GoDaddy is eager to fulfill its vision of radically shifting the global economy toward life-fulfilling entrepreneurial ventures. With Kristy’s guidance and investments by leaders across the organization, the company hopes to support and inspire entrepreneurs of all backgrounds to follow their dreams.
