SCS Global Services Congratulates Award-Winning FSC® Certified Clients
BOSTON, November 9, 2017 /3BL Media/ — SCS Global Services (SCS) celebrated responsible forestry trailblazers at the 2017 FSC® Leadership Awards on November 8th, with four of SCS’s top-tier clients receiving awards this year. The Forest Stewardship Council® recognized award winners for demonstrating excellence in the use or marketing of FSC-certified wood in products, or for their steadfast commitment to responsible forest management.
“Our FSC clients recognized for this award have exhibited leadership ranging from pioneering cooperative management agreements to protect valuable wildlife habitats, to reshaping an entire supply chain to meet FSC sourcing requirements,” said SCS Director of Chain of Custody Services Sarah Harris. “These companies are making real improvements through their forest management practices and their production and marketing of sustainable forestry products, and they are very worthy of this recognition.”
SCS congratulates all of the 2017 FSC Leadership Award recipients, including those who are certified through SCS Global Services, mentioned below (award descriptions courtesy of FSC):
- Dixie Plywood and Lumber Company for more than 10 years of commitment to marketing FSC-certified building materials in the Southeastern US.
- Michigan Department of Natural Resources for being one of the longest-standing FSC-certified forest managers in the Lake States region, with almost four million acres of FSC-certified forest.
- Seven Islands Land Company & Pingree Associates for its early adoption and continuous FSC certification of more than 800,000 acres of timberland in Maine since 1993, and working to help build the FSC system over nearly 25 years.
- Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces for being the first North American laminate manufacturer to earn FSC certification, offering thousands of certified products in the construction marketplace.
“The FSC Leadership Awards are about celebrating commitment to responsible forest management,” said Corey Brinkema, president of the Forest Stewardship Council US. “The winners demonstrate the type of leadership our world needs to help conserve forests, even as we use forest products every day.”
FSC announced the FSC Leadership Award winners at the Knoll Boston Showroom November 8, during the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston, Massachusetts.
