CLEVELAND, June 16, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Today, Points of Light, the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to accelerating people-powered change, named KeyBank as a 2022 honoree of The Civic 50. This is the ninth consecutive year KeyBank has appeared on The Civic 50 list which recognizes the most community-minded companies in the United States. KeyBank was also named the Financials Sector Leader for the fifth time overall.

For 10 years, The Civic 50 has provided a national standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how companies can use their time, skills, and resources to drive social impact in their communities and company. The Civic 50 honorees are companies with annual U.S. revenues of at least $1 billion and are selected based on four dimensions of their corporate citizenship and social impact programs – investment of resources, integration across business functions, institutionalization through policies and systems and impact measurement.

“Corporate citizenship matters,” said Eric Fiala, KeyBank’s Head of Corporate Responsibility. “Whether it’s how we use our business to invest in under-resourced neighborhoods or the countless hours our teammates volunteer in their community, corporate citizenship has very deep roots at Key. I’m proud that Key places such a high value on driving positive outcomes in the markets we serve.”

During 2021, KeyBank concluded its groundbreaking five-year, $16.5 billion National Community Benefits Plan. Over the course of the plan period, Key provided more than $26.5 billion in lending and investments to communities across America, bringing access to capital for neighborhoods and neighbors who have often faced barriers to financial support. KeyBank also announced in 2021 it extended the plan and expanded the goals to $40 billion in investments. These investments will continue supporting affordable housing and community development projects nationwide, small business and home lending in low- and moderate-income communities, and philanthropic efforts targeted toward education, workforce development, and safe, vital neighborhoods.

KeyBank’s Community Benefits Plan also included more than $33 million in transformational philanthropy during 2021. Over the past year, Key intensified its philanthropic focus on supporting economic, environmental, and racial equity across the country. KeyBank’s teammates also provided more than 26,800 volunteer hours in 2021 supporting nonprofits and organizations in their communities.

“Corporate leadership and commitment to civic engagement is critical for strengthening communities,” said Natalye Paquin, president & CEO of Points of Light. “Our most recent global research shows 86 percent of people say they expect companies to take action on a social issue. Companies like KeyBank are leading the way and setting an example of how you can leverage your employee talent, business models and assets to create deep impact that drives transformational change.”

The Civic 50 survey is administered by True Impact and consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform scoring process. The Civic 50 is the only survey and ranking system that exclusively measures corporate involvement in communities.
