To Innovate, Government Agencies Must Take Risks

Booz Allen Principal Ben Marglin joined with Meroe Park, executive vice president at the Partnership for Public Service, to discuss the urgent need for government agencies to take a different approach to acquisition in a recent column for Government Executive.
While the recently released President’s Management Agenda states that efforts to transform government through major acquisitions are hamstrung by processes that “remain captive to a risk-averse culture that rewards compliance over creativity,” Marglin and Park recommend that, to truly innovate, agencies must “overcome the fear of failure and develop a willingness to take risks.”
