BALTIMORE, Aug. 14, 2013 / 3BL Media/ PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Hope On Wheels® and Baltimore-area Hyundai dealers yesterday awarded the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Pediatric Oncology of Baltimore with a $75,000 Hyundai Scholar Grant. Dr. Christopher Gamper received Hope On Wheels' most recent grant for his work in immunotherapy against cancer, in hopes of bringing powerful and less toxic tools to pediatric oncologists. Hyundai Hope On Wheels Scholar Grants support principal investigators known as Hyundai Scholars in research and clinical programs aimed at improving the lives of children battling pediatric cancer.

During Tuesday's ceremony, Kathleen Hennessy, vice president, government affairs for Hyundai Motor Company, congratulated the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Pediatric Oncology for its accomplishments in the field of pediatric cancer research. The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center has received $885,000 from Hope On Wheels since 2005.

The Hyundai Scholar Grant was officially presented during a Hope On Wheels Handprint Ceremony at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Pediatric Oncology on Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. Baltimore-area children battling cancer shared their inspirational stories and dipped their handprints in colorful paint, celebrating the courageous lives of the children faced with cancer and bringing the Hope On Wheels community of supporters together.
