FSG Webinar - Collective Impact for Opportunity Youth - 2/12/13
February 4, 2013 /3BL Media/ - 6.7 million young people in the United States are neither enrolled in school nor working. Known as "Opportunity Youth," this population totals 17% of all youth nationwide between the ages of 16 - 24.
The systems that touch Opportunity Youth are highly fragmented today, posing a significant challenge for these youth to reach their educational and economic potential. A collective impact approach, where cross-sector stakeholders and the youth they intend to serve come together to collaboratively identify and solve a complex social problem, is a promising new way for communities to work together to re-engage Opportunity Youth on pathways to success in their life and career.
Join FSG’s Fay Hanleybrown and The Aspen Forum for Community Solutions’ Executive Director Steve Patrick, in conversation with Adria Steinberg, Vice President, Jobs for the Future, and Stacy Holland, Co-Founder and CEO of the Philadelphia Youth Network, the backbone organization for the country’s leading collective impact effort for Opportunity Youth, Project U-Turn. This lively discussion will focus on why collective impact is a relevant approach for Opportunity Youth, and what communities can do to launch a collective impact effort to improve outcomes for their local Opportunity Youth.
