The Chinese authorities have launched massive rescue and relief efforts in response to record rainfall and floods that have inundated central Henan province, killing dozens and affecting more than 1.2 million people. Henan had more rainfall in four days than in an average year.
In response, FedEx has donated 5 million RMB ($771K USD) to the Give2Asia Henan Flood Relief, who is partnering with charities in China including the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and the China Women’s Development Foundation to provide relief for flood victims.
The donation will be used to assist the purchase of emergency supplies and post-disaster reconstruction to help the province return to normal as quickly as possible. The contribution is part of the FedEx Cares “Delivering for Good” initiative supporting readiness, response and recovery for communities affected by disasters and other crises.
