Enactus USA Students Decrease Town Pollution, Create Sustainable Fuel Source

Can students make an impact on town pollution? An Enactus team in the United States did just that, while also creating a sustainable fuel source. The team found a way to collect used cooking oil and turn it into a sustainable diesel fuel for a trucking company. Before the project, cooking oil was disposed of incorrectly, causing the city’s pipelines to become clogged. The students got the city to install an oil collection bin in the recycling center and placed bins in three apartment buildings and five businesses. Through this effort, the team recycled 900 tons of cooking oil in three years and city pipelines went from 75% to 25% clogged.
