Enactus Students in China Turn Coffee Grounds into Fertile Grounds
Coffee grounds or fertile grounds, what do you see?
How can you earn money through agriculture in a big city? A Chinese Enactus team created mushroom farms with used coffee grounds. The grow bags require little space or sunlight, making them a perfect solution for urban dwellers seeking increased incomes. The 99 participants in the project sell the mushrooms at local markets, which helped them realize an increase of 40% in their monthly incomes. Through the project, 8,600 kilos of used coffee grounds were repurposed to make a better life for those in need.
