CNH Industrial Working to Make Manufacturing Even Safer in Brazil
As of April 2019, the New Holland Agriculture plant in Curitiba, Brazil achieved the milestone of five million hours without an absence-causing incident.
May 20, 2019 /3BL Media/ — CNH Industrial (NYSE: CNHI /MI: CNHI) achieved a year-on-year reduction of 55% in the total number of incidents causing an absence of one or more days in 2018, at its production facilities in Brazil. These results are testament to the effectiveness of the methodologies the Company adopts in terms of workplace safety.
In April 2019 the New Holland Agriculture manufacturing facility in Curitiba, Paraná state in south eastern Brazil, completed five million hours without accident. The plant, which produces tractors and combine harvesters for New Holland Agriculture, a global agricultural equipment brand of CNH Industrial, hosted a celebratory day for employees.
This ongoing commitment to safety is evident in plants across South America, with the FPT Industrial facility in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais state in the eastern region of the country, reaching two years without incident on March 2, 2019. The CNH Industrial Distribution Center in Sorocaba, São Paulo state, Brazil and the industrial complex in Córdoba, Argentina, also achieved a year without absence-causing incidents in April 2019.
This scenario is replicated across the Company’s production facilities across the world. For the period 2014 – 2018 the overall reduction in occupational incidents was 14%.
According to Fábio Belasco, CNH Industrial Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for South America, this positive result is achieved by a combination of permanent investments in improvements and new technologies implemented by the Company, together with educational initiatives through campaigns, prevention, and the involvement of all employees in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) concepts – which encourage wide participation in suggesting ideas for continuous improvements.
CNH Industrial also actively engages in best practice exchanges with external companies, and in November 2018 a meeting was held in Curitiba with EHS professionals from nine companies in the Paraná region to discuss and share best practices on safety issues.
CNH Industrial also carries out an annual Safety Awareness Prevention Week at all South American plants, with an engaging, interactive program focused on delivering key messages and increasing employee engagement in this important area.
