Weatherford WISE - Education Program

Across the globe, our employees share a passion for community outreach, donating their time and resources to a number of wonderful causes. In 2015, we launched an education program entitled Weatherford WISE (Worldwide Initiative Supporting Education), focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and educating women in energy.

Weatherford Families Celebrate Fun Day of STEM Activities in Ukraine
This year, Weatherford marks 10 years serving the Ukrainian market. In celebration, the company hosted its employees and their families for a day of fun and learning. Weatherford is committed to enriching the communities in which it operates. This commitment to sustainability includes not only safeguarding the well-being of employees, but also inspiring the next generation to explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) so that they might one day follow in their parents’ footsteps with a career in energy.

Successful Summer STEM Externship at Weatherford
We are incredibly committed to STEM education at Weatherford, especially when it comes to supporting women and underprivileged youth. In 2016, we provided approximately 2,220 students with STEM mentorship through our Weatherford Worldwide Initiative Supporting Education (WISE) program. In June, the Weatherford WISE program hosted seven high school girls from the Houston area for their IPAA/PESA summer externship.

For one of our latest #WeatherfordWISE events, students from Houston Independent School District's Sharpstown High School participated in a fun and informative session with Design Engineer Lizabeth Ly and members of her Well Integrity – Tubular Running Services team.

Supporting the Rodeo Run for Education
Weatherford is a proud partner of the 30th annual Rodeo Run presented by ConocoPhillips, a Houston tradition which has awarded over $4.8 million in college scholarships to Texas high school students through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund since its inception.

As a Gold Spur sponsor, we were glad to see our employees join thousands of runners and volunteers to raise money for college scholarships.

Supporting Education for At-Risk Youth
On February 23, 2016, Weatherford sponsored the Small Steps Clays Classic in support of Small Steps Nurturing Center, a Houston-based organization dedicated to the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families.
