Environmental Sustainability
Diageo is recognized as a global leader in environmental sustainability, and our progress and commitment to tackle climate change has been independently recognized around the world. Specifically, Diageo:
- Achieved the maximum score and was ranked in the top 5% of global businesses for climate change performance by the CDP (previously Carbon Disclosure Project)
- Earned industry leading scores in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (one of only four beverage companies included)
- Has been recognized as the leading beverage company in Newsweek’s Green Rankings
- Secured a slot in the NASDAQ Global Sustainability Index of 100 sustainability leaders
- Ranked second in the FTSE4GOOD’s food and beverage category
- Is the only beverage alcohol company to make the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index
In 2015 Diageo announced ambitious new environmental sustainability targets for 2020 which are aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and reflect ambitions to manage carbon emissions and water stewardship across Diageo’s entire supply chain. The same year, Diageo also announced a Water Blueprint, an integrated approach to water stewardship. As Diageo’s largest region by volume and value, with a significant manufacturing footprint, Diageo North America is a significant contributor to Diageo’s environmental achievements. In 2013 Diageo North America became a signatory of the Climate Declaration, which brings together companies and individuals to demonstrate support for a national strategy to tackle climate change.
