Ghetto Film School's Teen Filmmakers Have Their Scripts Read by Hollywood Stars at Fundraiser Co-hosted by James Murdoch and Brett Ratner
A cast of Hollywood actors including Max Greenfield ("New Girl"), Grace Gealey ("Empire"), Dascha Polanco ("Joy") and others gathered at the legendary Hilhaven Lodge in Beverly Hills to perform two short-film scripts written by the teenage students from Ghetto Film School. The May 25 table reading event, co-hosted by 21st Century Fox CEO and GFS board member James Murdoch, served as both a celebration of and a fundraiser for the organization, which teaches filmmaking to young people from communities traditionally underrepresented in Hollywood. 21CF is the founding sponsor of GFS Los Angeles, which opened its doors in June 2014.

Fox Hosts Teens From Ghetto Film School for Behind-the-Scenes Look at Studio Operations, Masterclasses With Top Execs
On April 26, 21st Century Fox welcomed some of the top students from New York's Ghetto Film School onto the Fox Studios lot in Los Angeles for a day of workshops and masterclass conversations company leaders. Angela Courtin, Chief Marketing Officer at FOX Broadcasting, and Phoebe Tisdale-Andrews, VP of Production, spoke to the young filmmakers about their journeys into the entertainment industry, as well as how they see the business changing over time. Ghetto Film School teaches filmmaking to young people from communities traditionally underrepresented in Hollywood, and 21CF is the founding sponsor of its Los Angeles program.

Teenage Filmmakers at Ghetto Film School Screen Their Thesis Project, "El Coche Rojo"
This year's class of Ghetto Film School Fellows recently screened the family drama they shot on location in Spain, "El Coche Rojo," at a Paley Center for Media event in New York sponsored by 21st Century Fox. GFS teaches filmmaking to young people from communities traditionally underrepresented in Hollywood, and its Fellows Program gives the students the chance to create an entirely original short film. 21CF is a longtime supporter of Ghetto Film School and works hand-in-hand with the organization to provide new avenues into the entertainment industry.

21st Century Fox Honors American Idol Legacy with School Music Grants, Over $1M Donated by 21CF to Arts Education Since 2011
To commemorate the series finale of FOX's groundbreaking reality series "American Idol," 21CF and the Give a Note Foundation announced a new wave of the 21st Century Fox Give a Note Grants, which will support up to 20 under-funded music education programs at schools across the United States. The company has worked with Give a Note since 2011, donating more than $1 million to nearly 90 schools in that time. The new grants honor the series' 15-season run, over the course of which it created some of music's biggest stars and inspired millions of young people to pursue music and get involved in their schools' arts programs.

Fox Searchlight's 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' a Finalist for Humanitas Prize for Social Messaging
On January 7, the organization Humanitas announced the finalists for the 41st Annual Humanitas Prize, a prestigious award that honors film and television writers whose work demonstrates effective social messaging and inspires compassion, hope, and understanding. Jesse Andrews, writer of Fox Searchlight's ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL, is among the finalists in the Sundance Feature Film category.

21st Century Fox Supports 16 School Music Programs through 'Give a Note' Grants
As part of its commitment to develop the next generation of artists and visionaries, 21st Century Fox distributed grants to 16 under-funded music programs at schools across the U.S. this fall. The effort kicked off last March to commemorate the end of FOX's groundbreaking music series Glee, which over the course of its six-season run sparked renewed interest and participation in school arts programs. Working with the Give a Note Foundation, a longtime partner of 21st Century Fox, the company organized grant presentation ceremonies at recipient schools, celebrating the faculty and staff that make these programs possible and giving the students the opportunity to showcase their talents. Since 2011, 21st Century Fox businesses have donated more than $1 million in grants to 90 arts programs.

Ghetto Film School Students Premiere Thesis Film at LA Screening Hosted by David O. Russell and Fox's Jim Gianopulos
Jim Gianopulos, 20th Century Fox Chairman and CEO, along with Academy Award-nominated director David O. Russell, hosted a special screening at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles on October 26 for Demon's Gate, the thesis film from the first class of student fellows at Ghetto Film School LA. The MacArthur Park-based nonprofit teaches filmmaking to young people from traditionally underserved neighborhoods and was co-founded by 21st Century Fox in 2014, bringing the acclaimed Ghetto Film School curriculum to Los Angeles for the first time.

21st Century Fox Presents Grant to Music Program at Orlando Elementary School
On October 12, representatives from 21st Century Fox and the Give a Note Foundation presented a grant to Castle Creek Elementary School in Orlando, Florida, as part of the 21st Century Fox Give a Note Grants initiative. The grant will support the music education program at the school, which has struggled for years to find adequate funding. 21st Century Fox and the Give a Note Foundation announced the grant program in March to commemorate the end of FOX's groundbreaking musical television series Glee, which sparked renewed interest and participation in school music programs during its six-season run. The grants will support 16 under-funded music programs at schools across the United States.

Ghetto Film School Will Screen Student Films at LACMA
On Friday, September 18, Ghetto Film School Los Angeles and the nonprofit Film Independent will present the second annual GFS LA Screening Showcase, where GFS students' 11-minute short films will screen at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the largest art museum in the western United States. GFS, which offers hands-on training and film education to young people from low-income communities, is now in its second year in Los Angeles. 21st Century Fox is the funding sponsor of GFS LA.
