Suppliers Stir Up Fresh Perspectives
Variety isn’t merely the spice of life — it’s also healthy for our business. Every day across Comcast NBCUniversal, our thousands of suppliers with diverse ethnic, cultural, and experiential backgrounds contribute unique perspectives that help us better serve customers and viewers.

We continually invest in creating new and greater opportunities for diverse-owned companies to work with us. In 2016, Comcast NBCUniversal’s spending with diverse suppliers topped $3 billion, and we participated in more than 100 national, regional, and local supplier diversity outreach events across our footprint.

Know Your Value Guides Employees Toward Success
Mika Brzezinski has three simple words for anyone who has ever struggled to move forward personally or professionally: Know your value.

“If you don’t know your value and you can’t communicate it effectively, you’re leaving money on the table — not just at work but in any relationship,” says Mika, co-host of Morning Joe on MSNBC and the author of two best-selling books focused on giving women the tools to advocate for themselves and their financial futures.

Last year, Comcast NBCUniversal’s Global Benefits and Diversity & Inclusion teams built on Mika’s message of empowerment by creating the Know Your Value professional development program, a set of unique resources designed to help all our people achieve their own vision of success.

Comcast NBCUniversal Interns Make Change Happen at Food Share Program
Comcast Cares Day takes place every April, but summer interns wanted to make change happen, too. Many of the nearly 140 interns and co-ops working in Comcast’s Philadelphia headquarters spent a recent afternoon volunteering at Share Food Program, a Philadelphia nonprofit with a mission of providing fresh produce to communities in need.

Where There’s a Way, There's a Will
We’ve always looked for ways that our employees can use their unique skills to help communities. David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of Comcast Corporation, has had a career-long commitment to pro bono legal services, and has encouraged general counsel companywide (at Comcast Corporate, Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal, and Comcast Spectacor) to structure a program to facilitate company lawyers participating in pro bono legal activities. To that end, at the beginning of 2016, Art Block, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Comcast, formalized a pro bono program across Comcast to support and encourage our attorneys to provide pro bono legal services using company resources.

A Better Normal: How X1 Leveled the Field for Two Blind Teens
Comcast launched the X1 talking guide in 2014 as part of our commitment to making our technology and media accessible to the widest possible audience. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 19 million U.S. households have at least one member with a disability and 8.1 million people have a visual disability. Providing richer, more inclusive entertainment experiences is just the right thing to do for our customers.

Film with Impact: Stoking the Transformative Power of Story
In partnership with the American Film Institute’s annual AFI DOCS film festival, we’re helping documentary filmmakers gain new skills and resources to maximize the social impact of their projects. This support is part of our broader efforts to promote innovation through media, which we believe is one of the most powerful avenues for driving positive change on a global scale.
