WHAT: UnitedHealthcare, CBS EcoMedia and The Heart of America Foundation, in partnership with DC Public Schools, will unveil a newly renovated Cafeteria and Health and Wellness Center at Bruce-Monroe Elementary School in Northwest DC. More than 75 UnitedHealthcare employees will volunteer their time on the first day of school to put the finishing touches on the cafeteria transformation. Volunteers will paint, build furniture, set-up a fresh food service line, and package three books for each student to take home. A ribbon cutting ceremony will celebrate the completion of this Cafeteria Makeover Program.
WHY: This project is the latest in UnitedHealthcare’s “Do Good. Live Well.” employee volunteer initiative, whose mission is to inspire service and encourage volunteerism. Funding from UnitedHealthcare was generated through its participation in CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program.
