Booz Allen’s Jenny Oh Receives Unsung Hero Leadership Award from Washington DC Women in Technology
Booz Allen Associate Jenny Oh was honored by Washington DC Women in Technology (WIT), receiving the Unsung Hero Leadership Award at a ceremony held May 19 in Reston, VA. The WIT Leadership Awards recognize and honor women professionals who have exemplified leadership while promoting the WIT mission of advancing women in technology from the classroom to the boardroom.
Jenny Oh, who works in Booz Allen’s Defense Intelligence Group, is the first person in her family to attend college, and the first to have a job in the corporate sector. She said, “I am honored to receive the Unsung Hero Leadership Award from WIT. When I began working, I found the corporate world was a huge culture shock that no one had prepared me for. Through my involvement with a variety of non-profits that serve women and girls in STEM, I hope to serve as a strong mentor for women in technology fields.”
Jenny volunteers her technical skills, advisory and leadership to non-profit organizations in the Washington DC area that serve women, youth, minorities, professional development and education. She is the Chair of the Northern Virginia Girls in Technology (GIT) STEM mentoring program, and is expanding the program to DC in Fall, 2016. The GIT program is a platform for females, young students and working professionals alike, to gather and encourage each other to be passionate about STEM and to be confident women leaders. The program provides mentoring, internships, job shadowing, and scholarship opportunities for girls, as well as a speaking engagements and demonstration opportunities for STEM businesses and women leaders in the community.
Women in Technology (WIT) is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of advancing women in technology—from the classroom to the boardroom—by providing advocacy, leadership development, networking, mentoring and technology education.
