Booz Allen Hamilton Recognized by Paralyzed Veterans of America for Long-Term Dedication to Wounded Vets

Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE:BAH) is proud to be the recipient of the Sustain: ABLE Award from Paralyzed Veterans of America, the only congressionally chartered veterans service organization dedicated solely for the benefit and representation of veterans with spinal cord injury or disease.   

Booz Allen president and CEO Horacio Rozanski accepted the honor at the Mission: ABLE Awards ceremony held Tuesday, October 6 at the Ritz Carlton, Washington, DC. The firm was recognized for its “long-term dedication to Paralyzed Veterans through financial support, pro bono projects, and volunteer hours.”

Rozanski said, “We are grateful for this recognition and very proud of our long history of support to veterans and their families. Quite simply, it’s part of who we are at Booz Allen; it’s firmly embedded in our culture.”

Al Kovach Jr., national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America said, “We’re proud to honor the organizations and individuals who have in every way supported our mission of ensuring that some of our most disabled veterans get the health care, benefits and jobs they’ve earned.”

For 35 years, Paralyzed Veterans of America has presented the National Veteran Wheelchair Games (NVWG) with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The NWWG is the largest wheelchair games event in the world, attracting more than 500 participants for a week-long series of events that challenge wheelchair-bound athletes to realize their abilities and potential through sports. Booz Allen Hamilton has served as a Gold Sponsor of the event for the past five years.

In addition to volunteering at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, Booz Allen employees support PVA year-round by participating in fundraising efforts around both the Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open (PVGO) and the Mission: ABLE program, which last year raised $900,000 for Operation PAVE: Paving Access for Veterans Employment.

In 2014 PVA was a recipient of a pro bono project conducted by top Booz Allen Senior Associates as part of the firm’s Leadership Excellence Program, which matches non-profit organizations with teams of expert consultants who help solve their toughest challenges. The Booz Allen team performed an assessment of the changing demographic of the Veteran population and continues to make recommendations on how PVA can best support a new generation of Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rozanski added, “I know I speak for my colleagues when I say that our support for veterans and their families is some of the most rewarding work that we do.”
