Booz Allen Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer Susan Penfield Named to National Board of Directors for SEED SPOT
Susan Penfield, Booz Allen Hamilton’s Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, has been named to the national Board of Directors for SEED SPOT, a social enterprise–focused accelerator program that helps “new entrepreneurs take their concepts from idea to scale.”
Penfield has served on SEED SPOT’s Washington, D.C. advisory board and was instrumental in launching the organization’s D.C. location as well as building a partnership between Booz Allen and SEED SPOT that launched earlier this year. Focused on inclusive entrepreneurship, including opportunities for women, minority, and veteran entrepreneurs, the Booz Allen/SEED SPOT partnership helps entrepreneurs build their ideas into functioning solutions.
“Susan’s depth of experience at Booz Allen and belief in empowering ALL people through impact-driven entrepreneurship will play an instrumental role in providing strategic guidance for SEED SPOT’s growth and impact for youth and adult entrepreneurs,” said Courtney Klein, Co-founder and CEO of SEED SPOT.

Part of its plan for growth involves the expansion of SEED SPOT NEXT, which provides a robust curriculum and support to high school teachers to train student entrepreneurs. The program is currently in 20 high schools in 3 states with a vision to reach 100 schools by next fall. The curriculum focuses on real-world 21st century skills for students to identify a problem and build an impact-driven business solution. Partner schools have the opportunity to send top teams to National DEMO DAY where students pitch on the big stage for prizes and awards.
