Although breast cancer in young women is rare, there are more than 250,000 women living in the United States today who were diagnosed under age 40. In addition to differences in the disease itself, young women also face unique psychosocial challenges as a result of cancer and its treatment, including issues around mental health, career, fertility, parenting and more.
