MEDIA ADVISORY: Marketing Leaders To Meet on the Sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly To Discuss Marketing Purpose and the SDGs
Marketing Leaders to meet on the sidelines of UN General Assembly
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y., 16 September 2020 /3BL Media/— Some of the world’s top marketing experts will meet on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly this month to share creative approaches to global challenges that are slowing progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Convened by the United Nations Global Compact, Accenture Interactive CEO Brian Whipple, RBI’s CMO Fernando Machado, Salesforce CMO Stephanie Buscemi and Global Brain Chief Strategy Officer David Kingsbury will talk about “Marketing the SDGs” and share best practices on marketing purpose in a session moderated by Global Brain Founder and Chief Impact Officer Natalia Vega Berry.
The first of its kind event on 22 September at 3pm EDT is part of Uniting Business LIVE, a three day online gathering of leaders from Government, business and civil society organized by the UN Global Compact to take stock of the state of the world, address gaps in progress, drive business ambition on the SDGs and identify solutions to global challenges. Speakers include Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincy, Natura & Co CEO Roberto Marques and Paul Polman, Former CEO of Unilever and Co-Founder of Imagine.
“For the last 20 years, the UN Global Compact has done a good job winning over Chief Executive Officers, Chief Sustainability Officers and more recently Chief Financial Officers, but we also need to engage Chief Marketing Officers,” said Sanda Ojiambo, UN Global Compact’s CEO & Executive Director. “Enlightened CMOs recognize the need to sell purpose ahead of product and so our missions are increasingly aligning and we need their help to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.”
The 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations comes at a time of unprecedented disruption and global transformation, serving as a stark reminder that international cooperation must be mobilized across borders, public and private sectors as well as generations to adapt to changing circumstances.
