MSEP Partnership a Key Step in Upcoming Bank Initiatives for Military Spouses

NEW YORK, November 6, 2013 /3BL Media/ – JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) announced its induction into the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) today. Maureen Casey, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, signed the MSEP statement of support during a ceremony at the Pentagon this week, signifying the firm’s deepened commitment to military families.

“We understand the challenges military spouses face as they try to balance careers with the unique demands of military life,” said Casey. “Frequent moves and deployments often make long-term employment difficult, which is why JPMorgan Chase is committed to recruiting, hiring, promoting and retaining military spouses from all Armed Services.”

JPMorgan Chase’s commitment to military spouses is an expansion of the company’s existing programs for veterans focused on employment, housing and education. In 2011, JPMorgan Chase and ten other companies launched the 100,000 Jobs Mission. In less than three years, the coalition has hired 92,869 veterans and has grown to 123 companies that represent almost every industry in the American economy.

Earlier this year, JPMorgan Chase and AlliedBarton Security Services, AlliedBarton.com/HireOurHeroes, formed a Military Spouse Working Group within the 100,000 Jobs Mission to leverage the collective knowledge of the member-companies to expand employment and networking opportunities for military spouses.

Since 2011, JPMorgan Chase has hired more than 6,000 veterans and later this year will launch a comprehensive military spouse program. Additionally, in 2011, Chase pledged to award 1,000 mortgage-free homes to military families. Since then, the bank has provided more than 630 mortgage-free homes, amounting to more than $62 million, to military families through its non-profit partners. Chase refurbishes each home to meet the unique need of the veteran.

JPMorgan Chase also co-founded Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). One of many programs offered by IVMF is the Veterans Career Transition program (VCTP), a tuition-free program for post-9/11 veterans to help with their transition from the military back into a civilian career. As of this month, the VCTP is now open to military spouses.
