Grupo Financiero Banorte Attends World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2013
January 24, 2013 /3BL Media/ - As a delegation led by Guillermo Ortiz and Alejandro Valenzuela, Chairman and CEO, respectively, Grupo Financiero Banorte (GFNorte) is participating at the 43rd World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, holding meetings with world leaders in the fields of investments, business banking, global enterprises and social responsibility, among others.
The presence of Banorte-Ixe, the third largest financial institution in México, is particularly relevant in this forum, participating as an "Industry Partner", one of the most important levels granted to the members of the Forum.
GFNorte executives present at Davos are: Marcos Ramirez, Wholesale Banking General Director and Head of Casa de Bolsa Banorte-Ixe, Gabriel Casillas, Economic Analysis General Director, Ricardo Velazquez, International Banking General Director, Mayra Hernandez, Head of Corporate Responsibility, and David Suarez, Head of Investor Relations.
Guillermo Ortiz was selected as one of the 10 leaders who will guide the discussion at the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL), with the participation of heads of international financial institutions, central bank governors and heads of major global banking institutions. He is also one of the main speakers at the session on "Smarter Financial Regulation".
Alejandro Valenzuela will serve as one of the corporate leaders facilitating the session titled “Transforming Investment Flows: Green Growth Action Alliance”.
GFNorte executives are playing an important role in official sessions of the Forum, where the latest developments and trends are addressed, in areas such as, driving growth through financial innovation, building a stable and resilient financial system, financial inclusion, among other themes.
In reference to GFNorte’s participation in the World Economic Forum, Guillermo Ortiz said that "we intend to move into international markets, not necessarily with a physical presence in other countries, but by staying in contact with companies with a global presence that want to invest in Mexico, we seek to attract such investments through Banorte".
Alejandro Valenzuela said that "to participate in this type of global forum gives us a great opportunity to meet with the CEOs of the major banks in the world, to know their thoughts and what strategies they are taking; we can also identify with them possible synergies. I think every company leader must listen to those who are talking about the big issues that concern us all, to try to understand where the world is going and this forum is unique in that sense”.
