(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) September 19, 2011 - This donation will help meet the nutritional needs of 200 infants for six months, with a supplement based on Maseca corn flour, enriched with folic acid, iron, zinc, vitamins, and minerals. “Nutre-Fácil Maseca” is an instant, easy-to-prepare product that contributes a great deal in the Daily Recommended Intake (DRI) of energy, fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals that infants need, according to the 086 Official Mexican Standard from the Health Secretariat.
The supplement will be distributed for free through the DIF in Boca del Río, to infants from communities with a higher level of marginalization in the municipality, who do not receive support from other social programs. Hence, with “Nutre-Fácil Maseca”, the Gruma and Banorte Foundations are improving the diet of infants from 1 to 5; the growth stage during which there is the greatest need to prevent malnourishment, stimulate growth and mental development, and avoid the spread of disease. The former was announced during a ceremony at the facilities of the local DIF, before the representatives of the organizations, dozens of mothers, and the boys and girls from Boca del Río that will be benefitted; they witnessed the importance of establishing strategic alliances to favor the well-being and health of the infants. “Nutre-Fácil Maseca” conveys the interest of Mr. Roberto González Barrera, Chairman of the Gruma and Banorte Boards, by contributing in the support of those who are the future of our country: The children. Through this donation, Gruma and Banorte ratify their commitment toward the most unprotected communities, adding nutrition to the different programs developed in the area that provide support to vulnerable individuals.
