EPA to Honor Caesars for Program to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

While Caesars Entertainment continues to expand its properties around the globe, it has reduced in one crucial area – greenhouse gas emissions.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today said it would recognized the Las Vegas-headquartered company for the achievement with its Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management-Goal Achievement. Caesars, the EPA said, earned the award for its CodeGreen campaign designed to reduce its environmental impact by 10 percent within the decade.

Under CodeGreen, Caesars’ has upgraded room thermostats, replaced old lighting technologies to more efficient bulbs, installed low-flow aerators and new showerheads to reduce water usage and energy needed to heat it, EPA officials said.

The result was a drop in emissions by 11.4 percent in nine years despite increasing its properties to over 57 million square feet, officials said.

The award will be presented to Caesars at EPA’s 2014 Climate Leadership conference in San Diego. The national awards program is designed to encourage and recognize corporations and businesses that find cost-effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
