Banorte-Ixe and CONAPRED Sign Collaboration Agreement

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) - January 10, 2012 - With this agreement, Banorte-Ixe reaffirms the commitment it has made to contribute to building a more just and equitable country. As the bank becomes the first financial institution to sign this type of agreement with CONAPRED, it welcomes and encourages other institutions to take an interest in this issue as well.

For its part, CONAPRED will provide all the necessary tools to implement strategies and actions to prevent and eliminate "all forms of discrimination."

While it is true that the journey ahead is long, Banorte-Ixe, under the leadership of Dr. Alejandro Valenzuela, Director General of the institution, has taken firm and concrete steps on the road to promote equality and respect for diversity.  One example is Banorte-Ixe’s Inclusive Program established in July 2011, which opens the bank’s doors to talented individuals who are evaluated and recognized for their ability rather than disability.

In addressing the challenges and opportunities for people with disabilities, Dr. Valenzuela responded to the recent "National Survey on Discrimination in Mexico (Enadis) 2010", which reveals that the key challenges for persons with disabilities are unemployment and discrimination. He remarked that in collaboration with CONAPRED and the Special Commission on Non-Discrimination of the Chamber of Deputies, Banorte-Ixe seeks to contribute to reverse this scenario, trying to offer better employment conditions and opportunities to persons with disabilities.

As part of the activities following this agreement, Banorte-Ixe will reproduce and disseminate the publications issued by CONAPRED using its vast network of branches, its website, and its ongoing dialogue with customers and stakeholders across Mexico (note: instead of statements/estados de cuenta). Using these channels, among others, Banorte-Ixe will work to build awareness among the widest  possible audience in order to help build a culture of equality and opportunity for all Mexicans.
