Banorte Celebrates Partnership with the Erb Institute
(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) February 25, 2011 - Collectively bringing 20 years of experience across multiple industries and sectors, the team of four dual-degree (MBA/MS Natural Resources and Environment) student consultants (Laura Frey, Marcos Mancini, Tina Tam and Jeremy Taub) collaborated with Managing Director of CSR, Mayra Hernandez, as well as the rest of the executive team, to develop the bank’s first integrated CSR strategy.
“The team’s diverse perspectives and fresh ideas were invaluable in helping Banorte develop a robust CSR roadmap. This was truly a win-win partnership that we will no doubt continue,” said Hernandez.
Leveraging their expertise and the resources of the University of Michigan academic community, the team performed extensive industry analysis and conducted a series of organizational data analyses. The collaboration brought not only in a set of co-created initiatives prioritized using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and a three-year focused CSR guideline, but also many realized results. The fruits of these efforts included a new university outreach internship program and the development of the four CSR pillars featured in the bank’s first GRI report, published last autumn.
“Ultimately, the purpose of our work was to build upon Banorte’s strengths as a learning organization,” stated the student team in their final report. “Banorte’s passion to invest in its learning will serve it well as it embarks on the path toward CSR leadership in Mexico and in Latin America. We are most grateful to have had the opportunity to learn along with them.”
