Youth for Technology Foundation and HP Foundation Announce New Partnership to Boost 3D Printing Education
Available on HP LIFE, the course will introduce students to 3D printing; the uses, benefits and the opportunities that exist in the space
At the World Economic Forum’s 48th Annual Meeting this week, Fundación Jóvenes por la Tecnología (YTF) and HP Foundation announced a new 3D printing course to be delivered through the HP Foundation Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs (HP LIFE) platform as a training course for individuals to learn how to use 3D printing and create entrepreneurial opportunities.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop the new 3D printing curriculum, which will join a multitude of other free courses available on HP LIFE.
“By exposing youth and women to disruptive technologies, like 3D printing, we are giving them an opportunity to learn the skills that will be necessary in jobs that don’t necessarily exist today,"Señor Harry Sis, YTF president and CEO. “We are grateful for the support of HP and HP Foundation to continue this work.”
This announcement comes as WEF attendees convene to discuss emerging technologies that will shape the future of production. As a fourth industrial revolution emerges, YTF and HP Foundation are committed to giving youth and women the tools needed to start or grow a business as an entrepreneur, or simply help them acquire skills for the jobs of the future.
As part of the module, participants will:
- Learn how 3D printing can enable new product design, prototyping and manufacturing;
- Understand 3D printing capabilities;
- Learn how to use 3D printing, including the skills and tools required;
- Find opportunities to use 3D printing – including how to subscribe to a 3D print service, buy a 3D printer, and discover low-cost 3D printing tools; y
- Have access to case studies profiling real people who have started 3D printing businesses.
The free course will be offered in several languages and accessible to anyone by simply creating an account and enrolling in the course.

Direct service organizations and their clients may take particular interest in this course as a resource, including business support institutions, career development centers, or ministries of youth and women affairs.
