Youth Rise Up for Human Rights
Rising star Michael Armstrong used his voice - literally - to take a stand on the world stage against human rights abuses and irresponsible sourcing practices from conflicted regions.
In an unprecedented ballad of traditional song, instruments and rap, Mr. Armstrong uses his musical talents as a world-class instrumentalist, singer and songwriter to say "enough".
"Music is an international language", said Armstrong, "and with political leaders from Canada and the EU recently announcing proposed laws for conflict minerals, the need to raise awareness about human rights abuses and conflict minerals in every language is only going to get bigger."
Sounds noble? Don't be surprised, Michael Armstrong, who recently received a full scholarship to an exclusive music program at USC, is a member of the young but social media savvy Generation Z.
Global brands should take note that an influential customer group, the highly connected generation that has been exposed to media and communication technology since birth, has just taken a viral stand against human rights abuses and irresponsible sourcing practices from conflicted regions.
