Xylem Watermark 2016 Month of Service | Werre River Clean Up Collects 45 Pounds of Garbage and An Old Door
Protecting safe water resources around the world is a critical part of Xylem Watermark’s mission, and employees in Herford, Germany made their mark during Xylem’s inaugural Month of Service by participating in a clean-up event of the Werre River.
28 Xylem employees, in partnership with Engineers Without Borders, launched two dragon boats on the Werre River and collected nearly 45 lbs (20 kg) of garbage and debris, including an old wooden door, as part of the inaugural Month of Service. Employees were trained in the importance of clean water and protecting local watersheds before embarking on their team building expedition. The local community and partner organization recognized the Herford team and Xylem’s commitment to solving water challenges.
With this event, Engineers Without Borders will receive a grant from Xylem Watermark to build water units at a health clinic in Monrovia, Liberia.
