WSP USA Launches New Climate, Resilience & Sustainability Business

NEW YORK, January 13, 2021 /3BL Media/ — WSP USA, a leading professional services consultancy, announced the new Climate, Resilience & Sustainability business line to partner with companies, government agencies and communities across the U.S. to solve the dynamic challenges of equitable climate mitigation, asset and infrastructure adaptation and emergency management.

The Climate, Resilience & Sustainability (CRS) business line centralizes a wide range of services within WSP, differentiating the company in its ability to provide complete lifecycle sustainability and climate mitigation, adaptation and response solutions. CRS will also include the firm’s best-in-class Future Ready™ solutions.

The CRS business capabilities will provide best-in-class solutions in the following areas:

  • Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG): Helping organizations advance and strengthen their ESG performance and reporting, through such platforms as CDP and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, which help identify and address climate risks and opportunities;
  • Sustainability: Providing expertise in carbon and resource reduction strategies and sustainability reporting, climate action and energy planning and adaptation strategies;
  • Community/Infrastructure Resilience: Enhancing the resiliency of U.S. communities, buildings and infrastructure to prepare for a dynamic and uncertain future, including the identification of opportunities for ecological restoration and nature-based solutions; and
  • Emergency/Disaster Response: Offering full-service logistics and emergency management and grant administration services to national, state and local recovery teams across all four phases of emergency management (preparedness, incident response, long-term recovery and mitigation).

“I have been passionate about climate resilience, sustainability and emergency management throughout the course of my professional career, which is why I recognize the global need for making an urgent and positive impact on climate mitigation and adaptation,” said Tom Lewis, the WSP executive who will lead the CRS business line. “Now is precisely the time to launch this business because the needs for our solutions, nationally and globally, and the potential funding opportunities, have never been higher in both the private and public sectors.”

Lewis’ leadership team includes Michael Mondshine, sustainability, energy and climate change; Mike Flood, resilience; Chris Walker, emergency management; Heather Unger, head of the Future Ready and innovation pillar of CRS; Nye Jones, inclusion and diversity; Ada Jimenez, finance/accounting; and John Booth, human resources.

“I’m honored to be a part of the diverse CRS core leadership team, which embodies the spirit of inclusive collaboration and teamwork,” Unger said. “As key trends in climate change, society, technology and resources continue to emerge, I’m looking forward to advancing WSP’s expertise to help our clients understand and plan for the future.”
