World's Largest Companies to Convene to Address What Counts in Business and Corporate Social Responsibility
CECP’s Annual Summit Attracts More than 250 Leaders in Societal Engagement
New York, NY, May 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ - CECP, a coalition of 150 CEOs united in the belief that societal improvement is an essential measure of business performance, will convene senior corporate giving professionals from companies that align community needs with business strategy at the 2014 CECP Summit: What Counts. These senior executives will gather to be the first to hear 2013 corporate giving trends data and participate in leading-edge sessions about driving business impact to address local and global societal issues. This year’s theme, What Counts, draws upon CECP’s strength in measurement and analyzing trends, as leaders in corporate citizenship explore the most promising evaluation models, partnerships, and investments to address pressing community concerns and engage key stakeholders, including employees.

The CECP Summit, running May 20-21, will include an assembly of 65 distinguished speakers, including:
- Irene Dorner, President and CEO, HSBC and Sheri McCoy, CEO, Avon Products, Inc., moderated by Tony Schwartz, CEO and Founder, The Energy Project, who will discuss how to keep a focus on what counts while accelerating business impact.
- Carly Fiorina, Chairman, Good360 and Former CEO, HP, and David Stern, Commissioner Emeritus, NBA, who will speak openly about the right-and wrong-ways to engage your CEO as a champion of community initiatives.
- Katherine McLaughlin, President, Wal-Mart Foundation, who will provide insights on building a better world through the strengths of the business, sharing the Wal-Mart model.
- Jeremy Heimans, CEO, Purpose, who will share his insights on unlocking people power and thinking like a movement-builder.
- Emmett Carson, Founding CEO, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, who will address hot topics and emerging trends in philanthropy.
Breakout sessions will provide a variety of content including:
- Amplifying Impact: The Role of Companies in Supporting Collaboration
- What Counts to the World: Setting Post-2015 Global Development Priorities
- Redefining Returns: The Impact of an Emerging Investment Model
- Nonprofit Board-Matching: Benefiting Your Company, Executives, Nonprofits, and Community
Spotlight sessions will highlight the role of companies in building awareness for #GivingTuesday and understanding the Common Core State Standards initiative.
CECP will share with attendees the inaugural Giving in Numbers Brief, an analysis of 2013 corporate giving trends data, drawn from the Giving in Numbers Survey. This year’s survey, conducted in association with The Conference Board, saw a record number of respondents with 261 companies submitting data. The Summit will also include the presentation of the Director’s Award and Charles H. Moore Award for Leadership in Corporate Community Engagement, and a discussion among the 2014 Excellence Awards winners.
