World Environment Center President & CEO Terry F. Yosie Stepping Down on December 31 After 11 Years of Service
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 17, 2017 /3BL Media/ -- World Environment Center (WEC) President & CEO Terry F. Yosie announced today that he will depart his post on December 31, 2017, after leading the organization since October 16, 2006.
In formally announcing his decision to WEC’s Board of Directors, Dr. Yosie said that “Organizations, like individuals, need to renew themselves in order to contribute important ideas for the future. Now is the appropriate time for me to turn the page. WEC has provided a strong and continuing platform for leading companies and their stakeholders to exchange ideas and share business relevant solutions on sustainability issues. It has been a great privilege for me to personally participate in these important conversations and initiatives and work with such talented and committed staff. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future and to supporting WEC. I have a strong passion for helping to solve sustainability challenges, and will remain a committed participant in our community.”
WEC’s Board Chair, Dr. Francisco Suárez, Director of New Business Initiatives at Coca-Cola FEMSA, said of Dr. Yosie: “Terry has been a great leader of WEC, a 43-year-old organization, and has positioned it for success in the future. Under Terry’s direction, WEC expanded its focus to practical problem-solving in many areas of the world and helped create important achievements with business, government and the non-profit sector. Especially noteworthy have been WEC’s impacts in advancing sustainability into supply chain management, preparing business leaders for a sustainable future, and work and leadership in Latin America and other emerging markets.”
Prior to WEC, Dr. Yosie served in senior management positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the chemical and petroleum industries. He has been a member of numerous scientific committees of the U.S. National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences, and currently serves on the High Level Advisory Group for the Global Environment Outlook for the UN Environment. Since 2010, he has been a member of Ingersoll Rand’s Sustainability Advisory Council. He received Carnegie Mellon University’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2013 and was an Indiana University of Pennsylvania Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient in 2016.
WEC’s Board of Directors has convened a search committee to choose a successor.
