Women's Shelters Receive $3 Million in Grants from Mary Kay Foundation

As a mark of recognition for the Domestic Violence Aware Month in October, the Mary Kay Foundation has awarded a donation of $3 million for women's shelters in the United States. The grants will go to 150 domestic violence shelters spread across all 50 states. Each of the shelters will receive an equal share of $20,000 in grant from the total donation.

The grant at each shelter will be used to support and maintain critical programs and services for women and children who have been victims of domestic violence. This donation is a part of Mary Kay's annual shelter grant program. Through this program, the foundation has provided a combined amount of $31 million in grants to domestic violence organizations since 2000.

A number of beneficiaries of the grant utilize the funds to cover their essential operating costs as well as to hire much-needed staff. Some of the beneficiaries also use the funds to address a particular need that may not have been met in absence of the grant from the foundation.
