Whirlpool Corporation Earns 15th Consecutive Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index
BENTON HARBOR, Mich., November 9, 2017 /3BL Media/ -- For the 15th consecutive year, Whirlpool Corporation received a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). This annual benchmarking survey and report is administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and takes into consideration corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.
"At Whirlpool Corporation, we feel everyone deserves to bring their whole selves to work without fear of discrimination. This recognition demonstrates the importance of LGBTQ equality in the workplace," said Brett Dibkey, Whirlpool Corporation Vice President, Brand and Strategy in North America and Pride Employee Resource Group Executive Sponsor.
As part of the CEI, businesses are evaluated on a number of LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including: non-discrimination workplace programs, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Whirlpool Corporation satisfied all of this criteria to earn a top score of 100 percent as well as the distinction of being a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
"We're extremely proud to continue our record of perfect scores on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index. It's a distinction received for doing what's right for our employees and community," said Dibkey.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation invites some of the largest and most successful U.S. employers to participate in the CEI annually. The 2018 CEI rated 947 businesses; of those, 609 earned a perfect score.
