Wells Fargo’s Workplace Giving Program Earns United Way’s Top Honor

Company’s campaign ranked first for the sixth consecutive year

San Francisco, March 19, 2015 /3BL Media/ – United Way Worldwide has recognized Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) for leading the largest workplace giving campaign in the U.S. in 2014, marking the sixth consecutive year Wells Fargo has earned the honor. During the company’s monthlong Community Support and United Way giving campaign, Wells Fargo team members pledged $70.5 million, a 9 percent increase from 2013, and the 12th consecutive year-over-year increase.

Gallagher, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide.  “Whether they’re donating money, giving their time as volunteers or raising their voices in support of others, Wells Fargo team members are making a real difference – especially in the area of financial stability and workforce development.  This is an inspiring example of how corporate partners are working with United Way to change lives.”
 
Including the $70.5 million pledged during the Community Support and United Way campaign, Wells Fargo team members contributed a total of $97.7 million to 30,000 nonprofits and schools in 2014. Team members also volunteered 1.74 million hours during the year, which included 350,000 hours during the campaign.
 
“These results reflect the care and passion that team members have for their communities,” said Jon Campbell, head of Wells Fargo Government and Community Relations. “Whether it is contributing to a nonprofit, helping in a local food bank or tutoring in a school, our team members make a difference, and I am proud that their efforts and generosity are once again recognized by the United Way.”
 
For many years, Wells Fargo and United Way Worldwide have partnered to build stronger communities, including volunteer activities such as serving meals to the homeless and working in food banks; cleaning waterways and restoring parks and public land; and delivering financial education to individuals and families using Wells Fargo’s Hands on Banking® program.
 
Wells Fargo is a member of the United Way’s Global Corporate Leadership program, which aims to improve lives and create lasting changes in communities across the country through corporate resources, consumer research and employee engagement. The company has previously been honored with the United Way’s highest award for volunteer engagement.
 
Wells Fargo team members have volunteered more than 6 million hours over the past four years with companywide programs like the 39-year old Volunteer Leave Program, which allows team members to lend their talent and time to a nonprofit project for up to three months while receiving their full pay and benefits. Wells Fargo team members also have the opportunity to participate in one of more than 100 volunteer chapters in 41 states and 10 countries, where they can work together to give back to the communities where they live and work.
