Wells Fargo Donates $425,000 for Twin Cities Revitalization Efforts
NeighborhoodLIFT grant addresses economic and workforce development for North Minneapolis and East St. Paul
MINNEAPOLIS, June 19, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) today announced a $425,000 Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT® local initiative grant to Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS), a nonprofit with a mission to revitalize Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods.
“The East Side of Saint Paul and North Side of Minneapolis boast populations with powerful attributes of experience and diversity,” said Cate Rysavy, Sr. Director of Financial Services with LSS. “Each is a proud, active, and hardworking neighborhood with a vibrant network of people and organizations committed to revitalization. We are grateful to Wells Fargo for helping to provide the resources and opportunity to make a difference.”
The Wells Fargo Foundation grant will be used by LSS to launch GetLifted, an innovative effort focused on creating financial wellness and responsibly reducing debt among residents in the North Side of Minneapolis and East Side of St. Paul. The goal of GetLifted is to empower local residents with financial tools, capabilities, and resources from local community leaders. LSS will partner with local organizations and individuals to provide financial education training.
“Wells Fargo cares about our communities, and we are making these investments to continue revitalization efforts that strengthen the Twin Cities,” said Joe Ravens, Wells Fargo Minnesota regional president. “The GetLifted program will take traditional financial education a step further and reach more than 2,500 community members, which will make a big impact.”
The grant is funded through Wells Fargo’s NeighborhoodLIFT program that was expanded in June 2016 with a $5 million commitment for the Twin Cities to boost local homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods. First launched in 2012 for the Twin Cities, overall Wells Fargo has invested more than $14 million in NeighborhoodLIFT that has created nearly 700 homeowners by offering homebuyer education plus down payment assistance grants.
About 50 matching down payment assistance grants up to $7,500 are still available and interested homebuyers may contact NeighborWorks Home Partners, or Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in the Twin Cities for information about eligibility requirements.
