Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) today announced $300,000 in donations to three local nonprofits to support housing, education and neighborhood improvement for Kansas City residents.

“We are committed to strengthening and empowering communities,” said Kirk Kellner, Wells Fargo region bank president. “The work being done by these nonprofits will provide families and individuals with resources in Kansas City to create new opportunities and improve lives.”

The Wells Fargo grants are intended to support neighborhood revitalization efforts through the Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT® program funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation.

NeighborhoodLIFT local initiative grants will be awarded to the following Kansas City nonprofits:

  • Guadalupe Center will receive $75,000 to make improvements at its Villa Guadalupe campus. This includes renovating existing buildings for use as a school library and classrooms for elementary and adult education, workforce development and a student-teacher dormitory. A youth soccer field also will be added. The improvements will benefit the school’s families as well as residents of neighborhoods surrounding Villa Guadalupe.

  • Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City will receive $150,000 to support neighborhood revitalization projects. With the grant, Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City will focus on building and rehabilitating homes in the third city council district of Missouri and fourth district in Kansas City, where there is a high concentration of vacant homes.

  • Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will receive $75,000 to assist with the continued rehabilitation and conversion of the Paseo YMCA, where Andrew “Rube” Foster established the Negro National League in 1920, into the Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center. The center is an expansion of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
