Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

Inspired by Wells Fargo team members and the crowds of people who have taken the ALS Ice Bucket ChallengeTM, Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf has announced a $162,000 company donation to the ALS Association – and completed the challenge himself.
John pulled a light-hearted ruse on team members by joining a group gathered for a Community Support and United Way Campaign kickoff event in San Francisco. The campaign runs each September. This year’s campaign theme is “Small is Huge,” and conveys that small efforts that help lift up our communities add up to huge results.
As part of remarks in which John thanked team members for their community support, he announced the company donation and surprised team members across the country by completing the challenge in honor of them.
The $162,000 donation to the national association represents $1,000 for each year Wells Fargo has been in business. Locally, Wells Fargo and its team members also support ALS charities, including those in Portland, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; Chicago; Sacramento, Calif.; Calabasas, Calif.; Warwick, R.I.; Irving, Texas; and Kent, Wash.
