Booz Allen’s most recent Nonprofit Speaker Series event, “Not your Mother’s Oldsmobile - The New Role of Nonprofit Boards and How to Make them Work for You,” is now available for free viewing online.

This session, held at the Booz Allen McLean campus on December 3, explores the evolution of the role of the nonprofit board.  While in the past, a board’s role ideally was to govern, provide oversight and help the nonprofit ‘survive” – today’s nonprofit boards play a more active role, and can help nonprofits move from surviving to thriving. Featuring a keynote address by Bob Wittig of the Jovid Foundation on “Striking the balance between governance and partnership,” the session explores how Executive Directors can take stock of their board’s membership and structure, communicate their needs in the areas of fundraising, outreach and financial literacy, and actively engage their board members to become true working partners.   

Booz Allen has sponsored the Nonprofit Speakers Series since 2007, offering nonprofits the opportunity to gain critical insights from leading nonprofit development officers, foundations and corporate grant makers. Developed by the firm in partnership with leaders in the sector and delivered by experts in the field, The Nonprofit Speaker Series events are delivered approximately three times a year. Attendees include representatives from small to mid-sized nonprofits representing the areas of health, human services, education, youth, environment, arts, and military/veterans.
