American Heart Association volunteers help the nonprofit organization with fund-raising, advocacy, quality improvement and education, Kathy Renbarger, metro vice president, said in an email to Business First.
"With a small local staff, we rely on our volunteers to serve as ambassadors for our mission and work to build relationships throughout the community," she said.
Since joining the metro board of directors in 2010, Leigh Pittman, vice president and director of Brown-Forman Corp.'s Program Management Center of Excellence, has contributed greatly to the organization's success, according to Renbarger.
