Visa Named Among Top 100 Just Companies
Visa has been named to the 2019 “JUST 100” list by Forbes and Just Capital, a nonprofit research organization that ranks the largest publicly traded corporations in the United States on responsible business practices, including environment, social impact and good governance. Visa placed at number 43 of 100, up 202 spots from last year’s ranking of 1,000.
Visa was included on this year’s list for its outstanding results on issues including fair pay and good benefits, customer treatment and privacy, beneficial products, environmental impact, job creation, community support in the U.S. and abroad, as well as ethical leadership and long-term financial growth.
“We are proud of this distinction recognizing our leadership across dimensions in how we conduct business,” said Douglas Sabo, vice president, head of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability at Visa Inc. “The Most Just 100 ranking is a testament to Visa’s work to transform commerce, expand financial access, invest in our people, operate responsibly and sustainably, and strengthen communities around the world.”
Forbes and Just Capital analyzed the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. to determine which have the best and most just business behavior. According to a survey of 81,000 Americans, criteria for being a “just” company include its treatment of its workers, its customer relations, environmental responsibility, community support and corporate governance.
In this year’s review, Visa scored highest in the areas of corporate governance, customer relations and environmental responsibility. Visa also scored highly on customer privacy and customer service indicators, as well as for disclosure around its carbon and climate, natural resource and environmental risk management practices.
