By putting technology in K-12 students’ hands, President Obama’s ConnectED initiative takes practical steps to address US students’ achievement gap in STEM subjects, and will open STEM careers to graduates, especially those from underserved schools.
Verizon is uniquely positioned to help, but we’ve learned giving students technology isn’t enough; professional teacher development makes the crucial difference. Teachers in 24 U.S. schools are participating in intensive, personalized training in mobile technology to teach science and math, the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) - a partnership with the International Society for Technology in Education.
