Verizon Innovative Learning expands to 100 new schools
NEW YORK, January 27, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Today, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) celebrates the International Day of Education, honoring education as humanity’s greatest renewable resource and celebrating the role of equitable education in empowering people, preserving the planet, building prosperity and fostering peace.
We at Verizon share in this goal and are thrilled to announce the expansion of the Verizon Innovative Learning program. Across America today, 100 Title 1 middle schools will join as members of the Verizon Innovative Learning program, bringing the total amount of schools to over 250. These schools will receive a comprehensive education package that includes an iPad or Chromebook for every student and teacher, up to a four-year data plan on each device, access to technology-rich curricula that provides a personalized learning experience and extensive professional development for teachers. Verizon will also be implementing 20 new Verizon Innovative Learning Labs in middle schools this year, providing critical exposure to emerging technology, design thinking and the UN’s sustainable development goals, preparing tomorrow’s innovators for the future of work.
This announcement aligns with Verizon’s commitment to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our technology and assets have a unique impact in addressing Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning.
The UNGA states that “education is a powerful catalyst” and we believe the Verizon Innovative Learning program can be that catalyst in the lives of thousands of underserved middle school students across the U.S. by delivering transformational technology, education and opportunity.
