This Valentine’s Day, VolunteerMatch Urges Everyone to Find Their Passion… for Doing Good
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) San Francisco, CA – February 10, 2012 – In the spirit of Valentine's Day, this week VolunteerMatch is urging everyone to find their passion – for doing good. To illustrate this important reminder, the nonprofit is re-releasing its inspiring video PSA to show that making a difference can help kindle romance.
With more than 80,000 participating organizations, VolunteerMatch is the Web's most popular volunteer engagement network. Whether a volunteer is interested in a certain cause or type of work, VolunteerMatch makes it easy to find a great place to volunteer. Just visit www.volunteermatch.org and type your location and a few words describing what you're looking for.
The video is titled "Find Your Passion." A take-off of the popular eHarmony ads, it imaginatively tells the story of the perfect volunteer "match" through clay and stop-motion animation. He liked dogs. She liked dogs. They met at VolunteerMatch and in the end the community was strengthened. The video can be seen on VolunteerMatch’s YouTube channel.
For inspiration here are a couple of VolunteerMatch opportunities that are fun to do with a mate:
-
Help out with your loved one at the Nicodemus Wilderness Project, a nationwide organization dedicated to environment restoration. Opportunities are year round and are as flexible as your schedule.
-
If you are in the Philadelphia area, the Drueding Center, a transitional housing program, is hosting a Valentine’s Day themed Family Fun Day. They are looking for volunteers and donations.
-
If you are in the MD area and want to work with animals, bring your partner and attend a Volunteer Orientation event for the Partnership For Animal Welfare (PAW). Who knows, you might find a future family member.
-
If you are in the Santa Cruz, CA area, volunteer for a Valentine’s Day themed overnight camp for people with developmental disabilities.
