Two Families Adopt Group of Siblings, Vow to Keep Children Connected

Keeping sibling groups together is at the core of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s mission. The Foundation works to dramatically increase the number of adoptions from foster care and our adoption recruiters focus on older children, sibling groups and children with special needs. Keeping brothers and sisters together is paramount to a sense of family.
With 110,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care, the need for families willing to open their hearts and homes is critical.
Often times, keeping sibling groups together can be difficult. In the case of the Eathyn, Zach and Summer, the two families who adopted the sibling group vowed to maintain their relationship to each other. Planning trips together and sharing meals is a regular part of the schedule so the children can stay connected. Eathyn and Zach were adopted by one family, Summer by another.
Eathyn and Zach’s mom, Rebecca, says she had always wanted to adopt from foster care and when the boys came to her, she knew it was meant to be. For years she had been a foster parent to 24 children, and now she is an adoptive mom. “If I were to give advice to anyone, it would be to let your heart break. These kids need families who are willing to risk heartache for them.”
